  • Hanson is in his 11th NFL season in 2009 and has spent the last two seasons with the Patriots (2007-08) after spending six seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2002-06).
  • Hanson was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in the final week of the 2008 regular season. In that game - a 13-0 Patriots victory over the Bills - Hanson averaged 45 yards per punt despite extremely windy conditions.
  • Hanson was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2002 season, during which he led the AFC in gross punting (44.2 avg.) and net punting (37.6 avg.). His 18 downed punts that season were the most in the NFL.
  • Hanson spent six seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2001-2006. His gross average of 42.9 yards with the Jaguars ranks second in club history.
  • In 2005, Hanson set a Jaguars record with 33 punts inside the 20-yard line and was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September 2005. Hanson played for the Barcelona Dragons of the NFL Europe League in the spring of 2000.

Atlanta (9/27): Tallied two punts for 87 yards, with a 43.5-yard net average, in the Patriots’ 26-10 victory over the Falcons … Served as the holder for kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who tied a single-game career high with four field goals.
